Albert Bichot Clos Frantin Vosne-Romanee 2016
Vosne-Romanee is synonymous with the world’s best expressions of Pinot Noir.
Vosne-Romanee is a village situated just north of Nuits-Saint-Georges and is surrounded by the world’s most expensive vineyards. Amongst those vineyards are the 6 Grand Crus, dominated mostly by the DRC with such vineyards as La Tache and Romanee-Conti. Albert Bichot own a small amount of land within the remaining 4 Grand Crus with vineyards totaling just 1 hectare for use in this Vosne-Romanee wine.
The wine for this excellent Villages expression comes from vineyards that are neighbouring next-door-but-one to both La Tache and Romanee-St-Vivant respectively. Both the terroirs in the Damaudes and Maizieres sites offer predominately brown limestone which gives the wine beautiful poise and structure. 100% of the wine is aged for 14-16 months in traditional French oak piece barrels, of which around a quarter is new oak.
The nose of this Vosne-Romanee features tobacco, tea and mild notes of spice. The palate is velvety with silky tannins, lovely fullness and remarkable balance. The finish is long and aromatic.
Meticulously made and with only 6,000 bottles produced we are sure you will not want to miss out on this wonderful wine!
