Astélia Cabernet Sauvignon
Every aspect of Clos Astélia bears the draughtsmanship of Jean- Claude Mas, of Domaines Paul Mas. From the house, to the cellars and the bottles. He has tried to bring together all his many passions into one estate.
The 12 hectares of Clos Astélia are mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, are farmed organically according to bio-dynamic principles, the vines, 15 years old on average, are pruned using the Cordon de Royat method, with a planting density of 6000 vines per hectare.
Two vineyards in particular, ‘Dausso’ from Château des Crès Ricards on Villafranchian soils, ‘Darre de Mouli’ from Château Teramas Astruc are used in the production of this wine.
The soils are chalky clay and black clay, chosen especially to create the estates top wines.
Astélia is an ode to Jean-Claude Mas’s four daughters – Astrid, Élisa, Apolline and Estelle.

Nose: Complex aromas of blackcurrant, violet and blackberry, evolving to mocha.
Palate: A full-bodied wine, well-balanced with with notes of ripe forest fruits, mocha and vanilla.see less
