Chateau Haut-Batailley Pauillac 2012
Chateau Haut-Batailley is located on the southern-most end of Pauillac, with vineyards bordering those of Les Forts de Latour (the second wine of Chateau Latour). They also have plantings in the ‘Petit Batailley’ behind the Chateau a-joining both the Pichon Longueville’s, Comtesse de Lalande and Baron. Haut-Batailley is a fifth growth estate that has seen, like many Bordeaux Chateaux, numerous owners throughout the years. The current custodians are the Cazes family, since 2017 they have been proud the add the Chateau to other esteemed Chateaux such as Lynch Bages.
The wine has spent approximately 15 months in 60% new French oak barriques and comprises 71% Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Merlot.
Smooth, medium bodied and velvety. Dominant notes of smoke, roasted meat, spice and pepper, liquorice and vanilla sit underneath pure black and red fruit flavours. This wine is nicely mature now and is brilliant value for money.
