Graham’s Vintage Port 1970

A mature wine. Graham’s offers a textbook introduction to the joys of Vintage port. The 1970 is up there with the astonishing 1963’s and 1966’s. This is truly a magnificent wine. Still a wonderfully powerful and brutish wine with lots of depth and complexity. Soft, smooth tannins building into a fine grip towards the mid-palate on-wards. Lots of characteristic licorice and anise profile with some herbal qualities of fennel, tarragon and thyme blending beautifully with a plethora of dried fruits, coconut, chocolate and black tea flavours. The colour now is more towards tawny but do not let that lightness deceive you. By no means should you under-estimate the clout this legend still has in its locker. Truly stunning.
