Hamilton Russell Chardonnay
Hamilton Russell are without a doubt one of the most iconic producers of top quality Chardonnay in South Africa.
The 2017 had 90% of the wine fermented in Burgundian French oak barrels (known as pieces), 4% in large French oak Foudres, 5% in stainless steel tanks and a final 1% was fermented in ceramic eggs. This blend of techniques makes for an incredibly complex wine, coupled with ageing in new and old French oak pieces for 9 months brings layers upon layers of flavour.
A tight, minerally wine with classic Hamilton Russell Vineyards length and complexity. Unusually prominent pear and lime fruit aromas and flavours are brought beautifully into focus by a tight line of bright natural acid and a long, dry minerality. An elegant, yet textured and intense wine with a strong personality of both place and vintage.
Another iconic classic from Hamilton Russell.
