Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos Crown Estates
This is made in the Hungarian state winery. It is an outstanding example of one of the world’s finest sweet wines. It is made with indigenous Hungarian grape varieties (Furmint, Harslevelu) that are affected by ‘noble rot’ and aged in barrels for 4 years and then in bottle for at least another 9 months before release. This exceptional back vintage of this wines has had enough time in bottle to start showing characteristics of apricot jam, marmalade, honey, beeswax and the merest hint of truffle. Delicious.
